Christ and the Church

"I also say to you that you are Peter,
and upon this rock
I will build My church;
and the gates of Hades
will not overpower it."
Matthew 16:18

That He might present the Church to Himself a glorious bride, without spot or wrinkle or any other defect, but to be holy and unblemished (Ephesians 5:27).

Christ, indeed, always associates the Church with himself in this great work in which God is perfectly glorified and men are sanctified. The Church is his beloved Bride who calls to her Lord and through him offers worship to the eternal Father. -- Sacrosanctum concilium
